Bedford Worst Garden follow-up
- Melissa Mateer and Frank La Pedalina. Worst Garden finalist in 'WA's Great Gardens' Autumn 2009.
- Since then they have planted a palmetto lawn, which is one of the toughest and most waterwise of lawns and looks green and lush.
- The garden has new dimensions, such as lines and structure with decking, used for entertaining friends and family.
- Succulent plants have been planted and these can get by on a squeeze of a moist cloth when it comes to water requirements. They manage to take up water from rain and store it for months to get them through the summer months.
- Decking has been used in the entertaining area and this can be seen as a waterwise move too as long as its balanced by cooling trees, lawn and garden beds, all of which make it a more visually appealing area and soften the effect of hard and sometimes hotter surfaces.
