Growing healthy fruit and veggies
Story Title: Growing healthy fruit and veggies.
Episode 4: WA's Great Gardens
Date: 6th June 2010
Presenter: Trevor Cochrane
Now is the perfect time to be getting into the veggie garden and planting up a winter storm.
Trevor's Tips and Facts
- When planting use herbs and veggies from your local nursery, they provide the best quality plants and the best part is you will be supporting the local industry.
- For excellent food production, you will need to boost soils for a nutritional base for plants to grow.
- It's also important to turn your soil over; cultivating soil is so important as it opens the soil up to gets air into the soil. This helps activate the soil flora and microbes in your veggie garden.
- The critical thing in getting the veggie garden firing is adding a plant nutrient that is designed for our impoverished soils that stimulates microbial growth whilst helping seedlings establish quickly. Trevor recommends Shades of Green Liquid Foliar
- Growing your own winter veggies will not only save you money at the supermarket, it lasts longer because you only pick what you need as you need it.
