Neville's Tips and Facts
- Buying your bulbs locally from Tulips with a Difference who has their farm in Kulikup down south at this time of the year means that you can order pre-chilled bulbs through to the end of May. This replicates the cold mountain air found in their native Turkey.
- Doesn't waste time trying to dig and replant for next year. Get freshies every year. You can get three mail outs per year free of charge covering a whole boatload of locally grown bulbs. Fundraiser catalogue for schools and groups are also available. For information go to our website for details.
- When growing potted tulips use a good qual potting mix, look for the red ticks logo for good indication.
- Keep bulbs out of direct sunlight before planting for best flowering results.
- Plant in 2 layers to bulk up the flower show.
- Varieties to look out for include Tall Tulips-Single late flowering available in a delightful glowing orange-red. Flowering up to 65cm.
- Double Tulips have large flamboyant blooms about the size of a saucer, with multiple petals and quite often have more than one flower per stem and some varieties are fragrant.
