What used to be a vacant lot in 2007 has now been turned into an established community garden for residents that provide everything from fresh edibles to educational workshops on sustainable gardening.

About West Leederville Community Garden

  • Only two years young members of the West Leederville community transformed this vacant block into a highly productive organic garden.
  • The garden is cared for by some passionate residents who bring the community together by engaging with local businesses and schools in sustainable gardening practices.
  • The West Leederville Community Garden use waste products and mulch to compost, keeping water consumption down.
  • The Town of Cambridge provides the mulch which comes from local prunnings and local lawn mowing contractors bring in their daily trimmings.
The nearby primary school participates fortnightly with gardening duties.
