Did you know?

  • The Swan River was named by Dutch explorer, Willem de Vlamingh in 1697. It recognizes the unusual black swans that he saw. The local Aboriginals that inhabited the area believed that two enormous rainbow serpents carved the river from the sand by twining around each other pushing the soil sideways. Today, the Swan River neatly divides Perth into two halves, North and South, and it’s on the Swan River that the battle lines are drawn.
