- Tolerates a range of soils, but performs best in a well worked soil containing organic matter.
- Low to moderate water needs
- Space one metre for massed effects in the landscape
- Add half a handful of controlled release fertiliser in spring
- Grows in both sun and shade
- Red fountain will survive moderate frost
- Not susceptible to any diseases or pests
