Story: Different types of Mulch
Presenter: Trevor Cochrane

Mulch smothers weeds, makes your garden look great and reduces the amount of water your garden needs in order to survive. Not all mulches are the same and knowing which mulch is best for your garden can make a world of difference to your gardens appearance. Trevor takes viewers on a tour of how mulch is made in his quest to find the best mulch.
How BioWise mulch is made

  • Based in Naval Base, BioWise converts common organic waste materials into fully composed humus.
  • The composting process is state of the art using a windrow composting technique before putting the compost into a super composting process where air is injected through the base of specially designed bins into the compost.
  • This process causes massive bacterial action breaking the mix down dramatically before superheating to over 80C where nearly all bacteria and virus are sterilised making the mix safe and rich in nutrients, ideal for plants to thrive
  • Biowise produce the mulch which is coarse material by running it through a rotation sieve taking the fine humus out into one pile which is very much like the compost you’d find on the bottom of a rainforest floor and the mulch into another.
