Building a waterwise rose garden
Episode: WA Special
Date: 26th September
Story: Building a waterwise rose garden
Presenter: Trevor Cochrane
One of the most important ways we can reduce our environmental footprint is by implementing ways to conserve water. The Garden Gurus are always looking for new ways to save water and Trevor shows you how you can create a beautiful waterwise rose garden and an equally gorgeous waterwise lawn.
Getting roses established quickly is important so enriching the soil is a must. In WA, the soil is very barren so a soil improver will improve the organic content in sands.

The next step is laying the lawn. Trevor has positioned his lawn so it acts as a nutrient sieve. He has chosen Palmetto grass- an incredibly water wise grass that looks great all year round and once established, requires minimal care.
