Smart WaterMark and Water Saving Products

Australians have already shown a willingness and capacity to reduce water consumption at the household level. But it can be a bit difficult to know what products to use and the whole thing can be a little bit confusing. Therefore a brand new symbol has been developed along the lines of the one used for indoor appliances. But it is all about outdoor water use.
Its name is the Smart Approved Watermark. Julian Gray, CEO, Smart WaterMark campaign explains
“It’s all about giving consumers confidence when they are buying certain products. With our label on it they know they will be saving water around the home. We have around one hundred products and about ten services but the numbers are growing pretty quickly.”

“We’ve got an independent technical expert panel and they have a look at the products and work out whether they will actually save water or not. We’ve just launched a new website which is www.smartwatermark.org and on there you can find out about how you can save water around the home but also you can find out what sort of different t products there are available and where you can buy them from.”
Part of the range includes water storing pots. Some of the pots have a reservoir in the wall and a little capillary tube for feeding water into the potting mix directly. The Wet Pot system is a grand idea; it has a tank which supplies water through the capillary tube and into terracotta bowls. The bowls are buried into the potting mix or soil and they seep slowly and water your plants for a long time.
Another great innovation is the GreenWell which directs water and fertiliser down to the root system of your new plants.
A great way to save water in the garden is by harvesting rainwater and it can be a really simple process. Products are now available which take the water out of the gutter and redirect it down into outlets where you can store it in tanks. This then means that you can reuse the water in the garden.
If you are going to use it in the garden then you will want to put in irrigation system like Netafim. The Netafim system is a poly line system with inline drippers which deliver water direct to the root system.
There is now even water efficient ways to wash your car. The NoWet car cleaning products are water less cleaning products which not only clean the car and shines it up but also protect the car from UV.
