Vergola
Presenter: Dean Boone
Episode: 24 (13th October 2007)
Some properties enjoy positions so close to the beach that you can hear the sound of the waves breaking on the shore. Dean visited a rooftop terrace that faces due east with stunning panoramic water views that stretch for miles but which at times, can also leave this home pretty exposed to the elements
The owners were looking for a product which could stand-up to the exposed coastal conditions and offer variable control through winter and summer. For the owners, it was important to gain protection in summer, but without sacrificing the effects of the lovely warming sun which floods the adjoining living areas in winter.
The owners eventually settled on a Vergola System, because of its versatility and functionality, but also because of the material it’s made of and its structural integrity. It comprised of a combination of framework and unique louvered panels.
Vergola louvers are made from colorbond steel, which is just the thing you need when it comes to living close the beach. Colorbond steel is made by Australians for Australian conditions, and that means it’s going to be reliable anywhere, on the coast or anywhere where you get harsh conditions.
Vergola is the perfect choice for a windy environment like this. It’s the most structural style of awning you’ll find on the market and it’s been wind tested to withstand speeds of up to 43m per second, which means, cyclonic winds over 220km per hour. Now that’s tough.
As well as turning a beautiful courtyard into a perfect living environment, it’s also increased their living area by a remarkable 40m2 and that has to increase the value of their property.
Vergola's versatility offers you variable control in a really smart, neat and very attractive little package.
