Botanix
Episode: #3 07/04/07
Presenter: Phil Dudman
If you are looking for some real survivors for your garden then you can not go by an ancient beauty like Cycads or Sago Palms (Cycas revolute). They have been around since way back in the time of dinosaurs so they must be tough and they look so interesting on their own, all you need is one or two in pots to create a fabulous look.
Cycads are perfect for a tropical garden as well. You may be surprised that although they look very tropical, they actually do not need much water at all. Put them together with bold drought hardy succulents like Agaves and Aloes and you have got another great effect altogether that is very waterwise.
There is a terrific range of hardy, ancient plants to discover at Botanix Lifestyle Garden Centre and if you are a great lover of all things old and little bit unique then there is something else at Botanix that you will find very interesting.
Botanix have just launched a fabulous collection of Antique furniture and it is quite superb. Most of it is French and if you know your antiques, it is in the Louis XV style which is from the early 1900’s.
There are some absolutely fine-looking pieces at Botanix with some beautifully crafted oak and gorgeous parquetry work. Phil discovers some chairs typical of the type that would have graced the rooms of stately European homes in the 19th century; imagine one a piece like that in your home.
While you are mulling over what to buy this weekend the atmosphere will be fun and exciting for everyone with Easter celebrations taking place all day tomorrow and Monday. The Easter bunny will be there with eggs for the kids, while the grown-ups can enjoy a relaxed meal at the Botanix café, with live entertainment throughout the day, it is going to be a lot of fun.
Also if you have got any gardening questions, Phil will be at the Botanix Lifestyle and Garden Centre to meet you from 10am to midday on Monday the 9th of April, so why don’t you head down and join in.
Want to find out what to plant for autumn colour in Queensland, or how about the best succulents for our climate? Well, it is all in the March edition of the Garden Guru Newspaper, your local guide to waterwise gardening.
You can grab your copy right now from your local garden centre, so make sure you do not miss out.
