Jurong Bird Park
Presenter: Sue McDougall
Jurong Bird Park is one of the best in the world and when you visit it is not surprising to see why. Cleverly planted gardens replicate the natural habitat of over 9000 birds belonging to more than 600 species ensuring they well and truly feel at home. Successful breeding programs of rare and endangered species prove this.
Stepping in to the new edition of the Lory Loft, you could be forgiven for thinking you are at home as it comes complete with grass trees. It is such an amazing feeling to look down on the birds in flight.
The aviary is over nine stories high and with over 1000 birds there you can get up close and personal with them and they aren’t scared of you at all.
Jurong is home to the worlds largest man made waterfall; it is built within an aviary and has been there for over 35 years. Down amongst the foliage it is hard to imagine you are in a huge aviary as you can only just see the wire above the tree tops.
Penguins are one bird that you would least expect to find in the tropics but 5 different species are really happy to call the air conditioned area home.
Wild bird shows are held throughout the day and if you happen to be lucky enough, like Sue, you can join in too.
When you visit Singapore you must visit Jurong Bird Park as there is something to do for everyone.
