The idea behind the Singapore Garden Festival is to inspire Singaporeans to get back into gardening and to have some living greenery incorporated into their lifestyle. To this end, international garden designers are invited to come and put on a show of achievable gardens.

Top of the list is Australia’s Jamie Durie.

Neville: What is your inspiration for your design?

Jamie: A garden should seduce you and should be something really evocative and a place that you walk into and feel like you just love being there. It really is the outdoor room theory.

Jamie takes his garden design vertically with living pods, or large hanging baskets as Neville calls them. Jamie says that his design is not just about letting that whole horizontal plain come around and put her arms around you, it is letting the garden go up vertically and come over the top and inspiring you.
