Citrus Leaf Miner
Episode: # 1 10/03/07
Presenter: Judy Horton
The most common question Judy is asked at this time of the year is about why new growth on citrus foliage is looking twisted and gnarled. Many people worry that it is a sign their tree is dying. The good news is it is not too serious – it is the damage caused by a really common pest called citrus leaf miner.
The citrus leaf miners are tiny caterpillars that eat inside the leaf. They are so well hidden all you will see is the tracks they leave behind. Because the caterpillars are protected inside the leaf, they can be hard to control, but Yates PestOil is an effective, low toxic solution.
Always remember to shake well before you spray and make sure you cover both sides of the new leaves. Do not spray PestOil in the heat of the day, though. It is best applied in the morning or evening.
