Palmetto Lawn

  • Palmetto is a beautiful, emerald green, soft leaf buffalo that is a very easy care lawn. It is a waterwise variety that will handle sun or shade and is well suited to Perth's climate.
  • When planting Palmetto it is very important to improve the poor sandy soils with a good soil amendment. Preferably have 75 to 100 mm of good lawn mix soil. It is recommended to add Palmetto Turf Underlay at the rate of 1 to 2 bags per 10 sq metres mixed into the soil. This will add nutrients, organic matter and essential trace elements to help establish the lawn and keep it green all year round. Add Turf Start organic fertiliser and a wetting agent to the soil prior to laying the turf.
  • Wet the soil and lay the turf in a stretcher bond pattern using a steak knife to cut and fit as necessary. Keep turf moist at all times. After laying, wet the turf and compact down with a plate compactor to form good contact with the soil. If necessary gaps can be filled with clean sand.
