  • Joondalup is focused on building a waterwise, liveable, and resilient city in the face of a changing climate. Key initiatives include the automation of irrigation systems, eco-zoning, and the joint management of Yellagonga Regional Park to conserve water and enhance natural habitats.
  • Since its launch in 2017, the Leafy City Program has planted 6,300 trees, aiming to increase the city’s canopy cover, reduce heat island effects, and make urban spaces cooler and more inviting. The long-term goal is to create greener, more comfortable neighbourhoods.

  • Joondalup involves the community in its environmental initiatives, such as its Native Plant Giveaway, which distributed 8,000 native plants to 750 residents in 2023/24 to enhance biodiversity and canopy cover. The city also grows 10,000 native seedlings annually to support local revegetation efforts.
  • The city’s ongoing Parks Redevelopment Program focuses on eco-zoning and hydro-zoning designs, ensuring that public spaces are adapted to the changing climate.
